The Summit
Within 15 minutes of Adventures on the Gorge, The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve will be the heartbeat of the Boy Scouts of America within the next 2 years.
The Summit, a 10,600-acre reclaimed strip mine, is dedicated to helping the Boy Scouts of America fulfill its mission of serving America's youth for another 100 years by providing character building opportunities, a respect and appreciation for the outdoors, physical fitness, and leadership development. With its extensive and diverse program offerings, the site will become a pinnacle of Scouting experience and a permanent site for the National Scout Jamboree. The West Virginia site, in the New River Gorge area, is only 15 miles from our campus. The Summit borders more than 70,000 acres of National Park Service property, meaning Boy Scouts will have more trails to hike, more rocks to climb and more whitewater to paddle.
